Shire Hall Wedding Photography for Tanika and Jordon in Gloucester
Tanika and Jordon chose Shire Hall for their wedding ceremony, creating a day that felt relaxed, fun and completely personal to them. From walking through the city centre to portraits outside Gloucester Cathedral, their wedding had a unique character that made it a joy to photograph.
A Relaxed Start at The New Inn
My day began at The New Inn Hotel on Northgate Street, where Tanika had asked me to meet her for some pre-wedding photographs. By the time I arrived she was already ready, which meant we could make the most of the time before the ceremony. We spent a little while in the inn’s grounds capturing some relaxed portraits before the day properly began.
Once we had finished there, Tanika, her bridesmaids, her mum, the maid of honour and Jordon’s gran all made their way on foot through the centre of Gloucester towards the registry office. As we walked, people stopped to watch and smile, and at one point a group of folk dancers even paused to join in for a photograph, which gave everyone a genuine laugh.
A Ceremony Full of Laughter
When we arrived at Shire Hall, everyone quickly went inside to escape the February cold, as it was Valentine’s Day. I stepped into the ceremony room first to check who had already arrived and found Jordon there waiting with family and friends, looking petrified before everything began.
Not long afterwards, Tanika entered the room with her bridesmaids walking ahead of her while her mum walked her down the aisle. From the very beginning, the ceremony felt light-hearted and full of warmth, with plenty of laughter shared between the couple and their guests. It was clear that everyone there was genuinely enjoying the moment with them.
Portraits at Gloucester Cathedral
Before the wedding, we had already planned to head over to Gloucester Cathedral afterwards for portraits. The weather had been a concern because it had rained almost constantly for weeks, and there was every chance the plan might have changed at the last minute.
Thankfully, the weather turned out to be remarkable. Despite the cold, the sky was clear, the sun was shining and the light was beautiful. It felt even more special because it was the only day around that time with blue skies, with the heavy rain returning the following day.
The Photographs They Had Hoped For
With the weather on our side, we walked over to the cathedral and created some beautiful portraits of Tanika and Jordon together, along with family and friends who had made the journey to celebrate with them. The setting worked perfectly and gave us the opportunity to create the kind of photographs they had hoped for.
Tanika had originally found me after seeing similar photographs I had taken in the same location exactly a year earlier. Knowing that those images had led to this booking made it even more rewarding to be able to create something just as special for them in the same place.
A Wedding with Real Personality
Tanika and Jordon’s wedding may have been smaller and more intimate, but it had so much personality from start to finish. Between the laughter during the ceremony, the walk through Gloucester and the stunning portraits in winter sunshine, it was a day that felt completely their own.
