Rain, Rain, Go Away
Roxy and Dwayne’s wedding in Launceston was a perfect reminder that the weather doesn’t dictate the success of a wedding day. It poured with rain from start to finish, but it didn’t take anything away from the atmosphere, if anything, it brought everyone closer together.
Bridal preparations at The Eagle House Hotel
I met Roxy at The Eagle House Hotel, a great spot tucked away in Launceston and ideal for getting ready before a wedding. There was a fairly frantic energy in the room as Roxy was struggling to be ready on time for the service.
Final touches were being made, conversations were flowing, and there was a panicky build-up to the day ahead.
A walk through the rain to St Mary Magdalene Church
One of the most memorable parts of the day was the walk from the hotel to the church. Umbrellas up, dresses carefully managed, and a bit of laughter along the way – but mainly panic, as we were running 15 minutes late at this point.
It’s moments like this that often stand out the most. Unplanned, chaotic, but completely real.
The ceremony at St Mary Magdalene’s Church was warm and welcoming, offering a sense of shelter from the weather outside. Surrounded by family and friends, Roxy and Dwayne exchanged vows in a setting full of history and character.
A lively reception at Chapmanswell Caravan Park
After the ceremony, we made our way to Chapmanswell Caravan Park in St Giles on the Heath for the reception.
By this point, the rain was still coming down, but it didn’t matter. Everyone had settled into the day, and the focus had shifted fully to celebrating.
The atmosphere was relaxed and full of energy. Guests gathered, conversations flowed, and the kind of candid moments that make a wedding truly memorable started to unfold.
A rainy wedding that worked perfectly
Roxy and Dwayne’s wedding is proof that you don’t need perfect weather to have a perfect day. In fact, the rain added something to it.
It created closeness, encouraged people to stay present, and brought out moments that simply wouldn’t happen on a bright, busy summer’s day.
