A Beautiful February Wedding in Gloucester
Maricar and Tim’s wedding in Gloucester was one of those days where the cold makes itself known, but never takes over. It was a crisp, dry day in mid-February, with a real winter feel from start to finish.
Surrounded by history at every turn, their day unfolded entirely within the heart of the city.
Starting at The Fountain Inn on Westgate Street
I met Tim and his friends and family at The Fountain Inn on Westgate Street, where the day began in a relaxed and sociable way.
It’s a great place to start a wedding like this. Informal, welcoming, and right in the centre of everything. People were chatting, warming up, and easing into the day ahead while I captured those early moments.
A short walk to Gloucester Shire Hall
From there, it was just a short walk along Westgate Street to Gloucester Shire Hall for the ceremony. Having everything so close together made a real difference. No transport, no delays, just a natural flow from one part of the day to the next.
Inside, the ceremony was simple and meaningful. Maricar and Tim kept things focused on what mattered, surrounded by their closest people.
Wedding photos at Gloucester Cathedral
After the ceremony, we headed over to Gloucester Cathedral for photographs, and this is where the setting really came into its own.
The scale and detail of the cathedral provide an incredible backdrop. Even on a cold day, it brings a sense of warmth and grandeur to the images.
Despite the chill, Maricar and Tim embraced it. We worked quickly, kept things relaxed, and captured some genuinely striking moments out the front. The kind of photographs that feel timeless.
A historic reception at Blackfriars Priory
The day continued at Blackfriars in Gloucester for the reception. A venue steeped in history, and a perfect fit for the tone of the day.
This is where they had their confetti throw, a moment that brought a burst of energy and colour against the historic surroundings.
Inside, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming, a contrast to the cold outside. Guests settled in, celebrations began, and the day carried on exactly as it should.
A winter wedding surrounded by history
Maricar and Tim’s wedding was a great example of how well a day can come together when everything is thoughtfully planned and kept local.
From The Fountain Inn, to Gloucester Shire Hall, to the cathedral and Blackfriars, every part of the day was connected. No rushing, no complications, just a smooth, enjoyable experience.
And while it may have been cold, it added something to the day. A crispness, a clarity, and a reminder that weddings don’t need perfect weather to feel complete.
