Bude Castle Wedding Photography with Linda and Mike
Linda and Mike chose Bude Castle for their wedding day, with their ceremony taking place in the front-facing room overlooking the gardens. It was a relaxed and emotional day by the Cornish coast, with family, close friends and a few thoughtful personal touches that made it feel very much their own.
A Quiet Start in Bude
My day began at The Brendon Arms where I met Mike along with his family and friends as they enjoyed a couple of pints before the ceremony. It was a calm start to the day and gave everyone a chance to settle before heading across to the castle. Around half an hour later, we made our way over to Bude Castle where more guests had already arrived, allowing me time to photograph people as they gathered before the ceremony began.
An Emotional Ceremony
Once everyone had taken their seats inside, Linda arrived in the Little White Taxi with Mike’s son, who had the honour of giving her away. Before entering, we paused briefly for a few photographs outside before making our way into the ceremony room.
Linda’s three bridesmaids walked ahead of her as she made her way down the aisle, while Mike waited quietly at the front. It was a genuinely emotional ceremony and Linda found the moment overwhelming at times, which made for some very heartfelt photographs. After the ceremony, one of the loveliest moments came when Linda’s dogs were brought inside to be part of the celebrations.
Portraits by the Coast
After the ceremony, we spent some time outside the front of the castle capturing portraits of the newlyweds. The gardens at Bude Castle provided a beautiful setting and the light worked perfectly for relaxed portraits.
From there, everyone made their way to The Falcon Hotel while Linda and Mike took a private trip in the Little White Taxi to the viewpoint above Widemouth Bay. It gave them nearly an hour together away from the pace of the day, which can often be one of the most valuable parts of a wedding.
Family Photographs at The Falcon
When they returned, we met in the gardens at The Falcon Hotel for more portraits. Along with photographs of Linda and Mike together, we also captured some relaxed family photographs with their children and partners. Those quieter moments often become just as important as the ceremony itself.
A Relaxed Finish to the Day
Once the photographs were complete, everyone headed back inside where the wedding breakfast was served along with drinks. The day continued with the cake cut before the celebrations carried on into the evening.
By the time I left for home, Linda and Mike had enjoyed a wedding day that felt intimate, emotional and completely personal to them, which always makes a wedding even more rewarding to photograph.
