A Beautiful Morning at Pentillie Castle
Some wedding days feel like they were made for photographs. Charity and Simon’s celebration at Pentillie Castle was one of those days. The weather was stunning, the setting was breathtaking, and the atmosphere was full of warmth from the moment I arrived.
A Calm and Joyful Morning in the Bridal Suite
I started the day in the beautiful bridal suite at Pentillie Castle. Sunlight poured through the windows, giving everything a soft, golden glow. Charity was surrounded by her closest people, each one helping her get ready with a mix of excitement and calm. There was laughter, music, and that lovely sense of anticipation that fills a room just before a wedding.
Her ensemble came together beautifully. Every detail felt thoughtful and personal, and capturing those quiet moments of preparation felt like documenting the heartbeat of the day.
The Journey to the Boathouse Ceremony
Once everyone was ready, Charity and her bridal party were chauffeur driven down to the ceremony venue. The old converted boathouse sits right on the edge of the River Tamar, and it is one of the most peaceful, romantic ceremony spots you could imagine.
The water shimmered in the sunlight. Guests gathered with smiles and soft chatter. And as Charity arrived, a gentle hush fell over the space. The ceremony felt heartfelt and full of emotion, framed by the river and the surrounding trees.
Confetti, Couple Portraits and Guests by the Water
After the ceremony, we stepped outside for confetti, which always brings out the biggest smiles. The backdrop of the river made it even more special. I captured guests greeting the newly married couple, hugs all around, and those natural moments that happen when people are simply happy to be together.
We then took a little time for couple portraits by the water. Charity and Simon were relaxed, glowing, and completely themselves. The light was perfect, and the setting did all the work.
Returning to the Castle
From the boathouse, everyone made their way back up to Pentillie Castle. Drinks were served on the lawn, conversations drifted through the gardens, and the whole place felt alive with joy.
Food, Speeches and the Arrival of More Guests
Inside, the wedding breakfast was served, followed by speeches that were heartfelt, funny and emotional in all the right ways. After the meal, more guests arrived to join the celebrations, which added even more energy to the afternoon.
Between moments, I captured guests greeting each other, more laughter, and the natural flow of the day. Group shots took place on the lawn, and the golden light made everything feel warm and cinematic.
As the evening settled in, the celebrations continued with music, dancing and that soft summer light fading into dusk. I had brought sparklers and glow sticks for a final moment on the castle steps, and it turned into one of the highlights of the day.
Guests lined the staircase, lighting the path with warm sparkles and glowing colours. Charity and Simon walked through the middle, surrounded by cheers and light. It was the perfect ending to a beautiful day.

A Day Full of Beauty, Warmth and Connection
Charity and Simon’s wedding at Pentillie Castle had everything that makes a wedding unforgettable. Stunning weather, a breathtaking venue, meaningful moments and a couple who were completely present with each other and their guests.
It was a joy to photograph from start to finish.
