Millie’s Christening at Holy Trinity Church, Gloucester
Back in 2023, I had the pleasure of photographing Millie’s christening at Holy Trinity Church for old friends Alan and Hayley. Taking place in Longlevens, one of the areas of Gloucester where I grew up, the day felt particularly personal from the moment I arrived. With beautiful weather and family members gathering from near and far, it was clear this was going to be a special occasion.
Christenings often bring together multiple generations of a family, creating an opportunity to capture moments that become increasingly meaningful as the years pass.
A Family Celebration at Holy Trinity Church
The service itself was held within Holy Trinity Church, surrounded by family and friends who had come together to celebrate Millie’s christening. The atmosphere was warm and relaxed throughout, with plenty of smiles, laughter and proud moments shared between loved ones.
Events like these are often less about grand gestures and more about the connections between people. As a photographer, those natural interactions are often some of the most rewarding moments to capture.
Celebrations Continue at The Walls Club
Following the service, everyone made their way to The Walls Club in Barnwood for the celebrations. The sunshine continued throughout the afternoon, allowing guests to enjoy time together whilst catching up with family members and friends they may not have seen for some time.
The reception provided plenty of opportunities for relaxed photographs, with children playing, conversations flowing and loved ones enjoying the occasion together. These are often the moments that tell the real story of the day.
Photographs That Grow in Value Over Time
Looking back, this christening holds an additional significance for me. It was the last time I saw Alan’s mum and dad, both of whom have sadly since passed away. They were genuinely lovely people, and knowing they are present within these photographs adds an extra layer of meaning to the images captured that day.
It serves as a reminder of why family photography matters so much. Whilst photographs initially capture an event, over time they often become treasured records of people, relationships and moments that can never be repeated.
Christening Photography in Gloucester
Christenings are among the most meaningful family occasions to photograph. They bring together relatives, friends and multiple generations, often creating images that become family heirlooms for years to come.
Millie’s christening at Holy Trinity Church was a wonderful example of this, combining a beautiful church service, fantastic weather and a gathering of people who clearly cared deeply for one another.
