Property Photography for a Spacious Plymouth Airbnb Home
Back in 2023, I was asked to photograph a beautifully extended property in Plymouth that was being prepared for life as an Airbnb rental. The owner was relocating to Thailand and handing the property over to a management agent, who would oversee the holiday let on his behalf. My role was to create a set of photographs that showcased both the size of the home and the lifestyle the property could offer future guests.
A Traditional Home with Modern Space
Originally built as a typical 1970s three-bedroom property, the house had been significantly extended over the years into a spacious five-bedroom home with much larger downstairs living areas. One of the standout features was the large L-shaped lounge and dining area, which immediately made the property feel far more open and sociable than many homes of its era.
When photographing properties like this, it is important to show not just the rooms themselves, but how the spaces connect together. The extended layout worked particularly well for this, creating a natural flow through the downstairs areas that translated strongly in the final photographs.
Views Across the Water
To the rear of the property, the upper bedrooms benefited from views overlooking the water, which added another selling point for both Airbnb guests and potential long-term visitors. Capturing those views properly was an important part of the shoot, helping give a sense of the surroundings and location rather than simply documenting the interior alone.
Natural light also played a big part in the final imagery, especially in the rear-facing rooms where the water helped brighten the space further.
Practical Features for Guests
Alongside the additional living space, the property also offered practical features that work particularly well for short-term accommodation. There was parking available for two cars at the front of the property, along with a garage, which added extra convenience for families or groups staying there.
For Airbnb listings especially, practical details like parking and storage can often be just as valuable to highlight as the styling and décor itself.
Photography Designed for Holiday Lets
When photographing a property intended for Airbnb, the goal is not simply to document rooms, but to help potential guests imagine themselves staying there. Wide, bright and natural imagery helps communicate space, comfort and atmosphere far more effectively than quick snapshots ever could.
This Plymouth property combined generous living accommodation, water views and practical family-friendly features, making it a strong fit for the holiday let market and an enjoyable property to photograph.
